The Hope Pregnancy Center began in 1987 as a vision of men and women from different denominational backgrounds in response to the Supreme Court decisions legalizing abortion. They wanted to offer practical assistance to those experiencing a “crisis” pregnancy. In February of 1988 the doors of the Center were opened. A local church donated the downstairs of their church to be used for this purpose. The Center was housed at that location for five years, ministering to nearly 2000 women during that time. In August 1992 a building on Commerce St. was leased. During the first 5 ½ years of ministry the CPSC was open an average of 20 hours per week. In October of 1993 the hours were increased to 34 ½ per week. Due to the generosity of a Nashville couple, the Center purchased a building at 325 N. 2nd Street in Clarksville. This gift gave the Center a total of almost 5000 sq. ft. in which to operate. On March 1st, 2003, the Center expanded its services to include ultrasound for confirmation of pregnancy.
